Super Genius

By Mark J. DeGregorio, a.k.a.- Lucky

A mid summers afternoon, Nonie and Irma were sitting in the family room of James’s house.  Nonie was telling her the crazy things that happened for the week.  This was a weekly event since after their class reunion.

The two were laughing and babbling until Patricia entered the room, calling them Dorks.  Nonie stretched a certain finger towards her mean twin’s face and replied, “You see this?”

Patricia turned and grumbled, “Same to both of you.” Then she walked out of the room.

Both girls laughed and Irma asked, “She hasn’t changed a bit since high school, has she?”

From outside the room, Patricia shouted, “You two are still Dorks!”

“Nope,” Nonie teased, “not one bit.”

Alan strolled into the room with tools in hand and said, "If anyone needs me, I’ll be in the garage.”

Nonie stretched her upper body towards him, then stretched her neck around to face him, and asked, “You’re not thinking about touching Steph’s car again, are you?”

“Hell no, do you think I’m that stupid?” Alan replied, “I am a super genius after all.”

He lifted Nonie’s elongated neck out of the way and added, “Besides, Ms. Hot-head told me what she’d do to me, if I so much as to breath on her car.”

As he came to the door, Patricia was on the other side of the doorway and both stopped for a moment when Patricia snapped, “Stand aside geek, you’re in my way.” And stretched her hand to shove Alan aside, “Important people coming through.”

After Ms. High-and-Mighty passed, Alan quietly went to the garage.  Patricia strolled up to Nonie and smugly said, “Hey Ninny…” then smiled, “I mean Nonie, James wants us in his study…now.”

“Oh well, I have to be going now, anyway.” Irma said.

“Yea you do that, I can only take one dweeb right now.” Patricia snapped.

Nonie looked at Irma and asked, “Do you need a ride?”

“Nope…” Irma held up her cell phone and smiled, “I have one.”  As soon as Irma left the house, Nonie glared at Patricia and snapped, “You didn’t have to be this rude, what’s so important that you had to throw Irma out.”

Patricia answered, “James wants both of us to go to the ship for a bio-scan.”

“I was never good at Biology.” Nonie wined.

Patricia sneered, “You weren’t good at anything except stupidity.” Then both went to the study.

At the corner of James’s house, Irma dialed a number, and when she got an answer, said, “Pick me up now.”

Three minutes later, a black car pulled up and a man exited the car.  He wore a baby blue bodysuit and cowl.  He had on black boots, gloves, and belt.  On the front of his suit was a large black Z.  He lifted his dark sunglasses to look at her, and then he opened the backseat door for her.  Irma got in and he closed the door behind her and got into the driver’s seat.  He turned back and asked, “Did everything go as planed?”

Irma started to grow five inches taller.  Her clothes began to change from a plaid skirt and gold blouse to a black cat suit.  Her hair turned from a medium brown to long and pink.  She removed the glasses she was wearing and said, “Let’s get back before Dr. Zan misses us.”

“Yes Ms. Flexine.” Then he turned to drive back to the layer.

James, Beaker, and the rubber twins were in Stephanie’s car in route to the Terisen.  Nonie asked, “Hey!  How come Stephanie let you drive her car.”

“Unlike you two or Alan,” James answered, “She can trust me with her car.”

Nonie sat back in her seat, crossed her arms, and pouted, “That’s not fair.”

“I wouldn’t trust you with a matchbox car.” Patricia grinned.

Nonie turned and smacked Patricia, and gripped, “You shut up!  She doesn’t trust you either.”

James turned back and shouted, “Knock it off you two, you don’t want me coming back there!”

Five minutes later, they reached their destination.   James set the car down, and they got out.  James entered the code to open the door.  When they were twenty-five feet into the ship, Terisen sounded an intruder alert, pointing ten laser guns at the twins.  James stepped in front of the girls and said, “Knock it off Terisen, they’re with us!”

A holographic woman appeared before James and said, “You can never be too careful with shape-shifters.”

James crossed his arms and said, “If I recalled, you wanted the bio-scan on them.”

Two drones approached to escort the girls to the medical bay.  Beaker followed to run the scan.  When they were out of sight, James asked, “Why did you have to treat them as if they were the enemy?”

Without changing her expression, she answered, “The last time a shifter got on board, I was shut down.”

James walked towards command, asked, “Anything on that pink haired woman?”

Terisen followed replied, “Without a scan on her, I can not identify her in whatever form she can assume.”

The two reached the command deck and enter.  James looked around and thought that the last time he was here was when Terisen crashed on Earth.  He noted that Alan did a great job repairing he damages to command.  He walked to the computer and started a file search on all shifters assigned to Terisen.

In the medical bay, the twins were placed on a couple of beds.  A scanner was moving around them in a hundred and eighty degrees, then up and down their bodies.   Beaker was looking at the monitors reading the data.  He thought about how he had watched them grow from newborns to adolescents.  He had hoped that the assassin who slain their mother would never get them.

Beaker saw something in the scan results that he didn’t expect to see.  He went into the other room and called James.  When James was on the viewing screen, Beaker said, “Terisen finished the bio-scan, and they’re not full bred Flaturians.”

“And I need to know this because…” James asked.

“…Because they’re part Vorzon.” Beaker explained.

Vorzon, James thought, and then said, “Their father was Vorzon, and Linda was Vorzon…”

Beaker smiled, “I thought that would get your attention.”

“Well, I have a pretty good idea who the father is.” James said.

Beaker asked, pointing into the other room, “When should we tell them?”

“When I have a little talk with their father,” He answered, “James out.”

Flexine got out of the car and entered Dr. Zan’s laboratory.  Zan was working on a new device to take-over the world.  Dr. Zan was certainly, not the most efficient mad genius she has ever seen, but working for him has its benefits, such as the pay.

Flexine sat down in a chair, picked up a woman’s magazine, and began to thumb through the articles.  Dr. Zan was rambling about his newest plan, when Flexine shaped her right hand into Zan’s head and proceeded to scornfully imitate him.   Dr. Zan turned around and saw Flexine mocking him, yelled, “Well it’s about time you got back here.  Now I can tell you about my newest plan for dominating the world!”

Hearing his plans for world conquest was not a benefit for working for Dr. Zan.  Oh goodie, my favorite part. She thought.  She looked towards Dr. Zan and tried to look interested, “Look, can we just skip to the part where your invention blows up in your face.”

Zan lifted his goggles and sighed, “My aren’t we witty today.” and replaced the goggles back on and said, “You know, you could make yourself useful and help me.”

Flexine extended her arm across the room to the toolbox and retrieved a wrench.  She then moved her stretched arm to where Dr. Zan was working and plopped the wrench in front of him, then went back to her reading.

“You’re no help Flexine.” He gripped and held up his invention over his head for all to see and continued, “Behold, my particle disrupter.”

Flexine sat up in her chair and thought to herself, oh, this should be good.

Zan continued, “…And when I flick this switch…”  He toggled the switch, and it blew up.  After the smoke had cleared, Dr. Zan was standing with his face blackened from the blast.  His neatly parted dark hair was standing straight up.  Even the upper haft of his lab coat was blackened.

Flexine laughed, “Soooo, Buckwheat, Got any more nifty inventions you want to show me?”

Zan started to wipe the blast residue from his face when he asked, “I can’t understand how that could have happened?”

“Maybe…” Flexine teased, “…You’re not smart enough to make a particle what-chu-ma call it.”

“A particle disrupter, and yes I am too, smart enough.” Dr. Zan countered.

Flexine strolled back to her chair, sat down, and said, “Well, if you were as smart as Alan Foster, you might be able to build it.”

“Eh, Foster…Alan Foster, never heard of him.” Dr. Zan thought aloud.

Flexine leaned back in her chair and said, “He’s Nonie’s boyfriend, you know, Elasticity.”

Dr. Zan looked at Flexine and asked, “So, how do you know so much about all this?”

Flexine smiled, “After all…” and then began to shape shift into Irma Ramsey and continued, “…I am her best friend.”

“And you say he could fix my particle disrupter?” Dr. Zan asked.

Flexine shifts back into her usual form and replied, “He could.”

Dr. Zan gave a huge toothy evil smile and commanded, “Then I want you to seize Alan Foster and bring him here.”

Evening began to settle, as Alan J. Foster, self-proclaimed genius, was working on yet another of his special projects.  The rubber-twins entered the garage where he was working.  They looked over what he was working on and Nonie asked, “What is that?”

Alan turned, saw the twins, smiled and answered, “Well, what does it look like to you?”

“Besides a hunk of junk.” Patricia snapped.

“No,” he sighed, “it’s a car.”

Nonie puzzlingly looked the car over and asked, “Isn’t a car suppose to have wheels?”

Alan gave the girls his usual grin and replied, “That’s the beauty of it, this car will be able to fly…I think I’ll call it a skycar.”

Nonie blinked her green eyes and asked, “But doesn’t Stephanie already have a flying car?”

The grin on his face twisted down to a frown as he muttered, “Miss ungrateful, I built it and she wont let me drive it, so I’m making this car for me.”

Patricia looked over the car again and said, “It still looks like a piece of junk.”

“Keep it up and I won’t let you drive it!” Alan snapped, and turned to continue working on the car.  Nonie and Patricia exited the garage after he got under the car to attach the flux drive to the engine shaft.

After he got the flux drive aliened, he noticed he forgot the wrench.  He heard someone walking around the garage and hollered, “Nonie hand me the wrench on the work table.”

Moments later, an arm stretched down to him with the wrench.  As Alan took the tool, he noticed the white glove and thought, when did Nonie started wearing gloves…

His thoughts were interrupted when the arm wrapped itself around him and pulled him out from under the car.  A woman in a black outfit pulled him up from the floor.  The one thing, which caught his eye, was the fact that her long hair was the color of hot pink.  “Good job Flexine” said a man from behind him.

She turned Alan to face her employer as he said, “Good evening doctor Foster, I hear you have a knack of building marvelous devices.”

Alan looked at the man standing before him.  He was tall, at least compared to himself, with dark hair parted down the middle, and had a mustache.  He was dressed in something Dr. Frankenstein would wear.  Alan asked, “So, who did you say you were again?”

He took a villainous stance and said, “I am Doctor Zan, the villainous evil genius who will take over the world…”

“Now you did it,” Flexine sighed, “you got him started.”

“…As I was saying,” he continued, “I am Doctor Zan, perhaps you’ve heard of me.”

Alan glanced up and responded, “Nope, can’t say I have.”

Zan grind his teeth and hollered, “Flexine, fire my P.R. man!”

“And that would be you.” Flexine smiled.

“Augh!” Zan moaned, “Just get him back to the layer.”

As the two villains proceeded to take Alan, the rubber-twins came back into the garage.  They were surprised by seeing strangers in their garage, Nonie blurted, “Let go of him you big meanie!”

Flexine stretched her other arm to where Nonie stood and punched her in the face.  Patricia started to laugh until Flexine grabbed a hold of Nonie. She slammed Nonie into Patricia, sending both across the garage.  Flexine laughed, “That was way too easy.”

Dr. Zan and Flexine pulled Alan out of the garage and forced him into the car.  The twins got up, ran outside, and saw the car drive away.  “Now what?” Patricia sighed.

Nonie replied, “Let’s go after them using the skycar.”

“I don’t think that’s a good idea.” Patricia said.

Nonie smiled and said, “I’ll let you drive.”

Patricia smiled and said, “Okay.”

They rushed back into the garage, hopped into the skycar, started it up, and went after them.  They only got as high as fifty feet before the flux drive fell off the car.  All the lights inside the car went out and the skycar began to spin down towards the ground.  After the skycar smashed into the ground and becoming completely totaled, the twins squeezed themselves out from the mangled mess that was once a car.

They turned to see the destruction they had done and Patricia said, “Your geek boyfriend is going to be pist at you.”

“ME!” Nonie gripped, “You were driving!”

Stephanie always told him that he was too smart for his own good, and that one day, it would get him into trouble, that day had come.  Alan was sitting in Dr. Zan’s laboratory with two of his goons on both sides of him.  Flexine was sitting on a nearby table, and Dr. Zan was standing in front of him.  Zan held a charred device, which looked like; it had one too many blow-ups.  Dr. Zan turned towards Alan and said, “I have come to understand that you can fix anything, such as a particle disrupter.”

“Yeah,” Alan smirked, “but why should I fix your particle disrupter, so you can take over the world, been tried before.”

“Well, not by me yet,” Zan informed, “are you going to fix my particle disrupter?”

“In a couple of words…”Alan answered, “hell no!”

Dr. Zan face scowled for a moment, then he smiled and said, and “I guess we’ll just have to do it the hard way.”

Dr. Zan turned to his goons and ordered, “Take Mr. Foster to the torture chamber, we’ll see if he can take all that horrible music.”

Flexine stretched her neck over to Zan and asked, “Uhm, you know Dr. Zan, I don’t think forcing him to listen to rock music is really consider torture.”

Zan waved his hand to the pink haired woman and said, “Nonsense, it’s a well know fact that rock music is the perfect torment.”

“Uh, yeah.” She sarcastically replied, and pulled back her neck.

The rubber-twins are lucky that they cannot break any bones, due to their elastic bodies.  However, the crash did leave them with some cuts and bruises, which had started to heel almost instantly.  By the time the twins got back to the house, they only had aching bodies.  Their clothes on the other hand, were not so fortunate.  James, Penny, and Stephanie were sitting in the living room when the girls entered the room.  All mouths dropped at the sight of the twins.

“What the hell happen to you two?” Stephanie grilled.

Beaker walked into the room as they told of what had happened.  When they got to the part of an elastic woman in black that had pink hair, James and Beaker’s mouths dropped to the floor.

“It’s the assassin of your mother.” Beaker cried out.

James was not too happy of having the same woman who shut down Terisen, to show up at his house.  Patricia said, “She is going by the name, Flexine.”

“They took Alan!” Nonie cried, “We have to find him.”

Penny sighed, “How on Earth are we going to find him.”

James got up from the couch, waved his hand, and ordered, “Everyone, follow me.”

Dr. Zan and Flexine were walking to the torture chamber where Alan was taken.  Zan smiled, rubbing his hands together, and said, “Let’s see if Mr. Foster is ready to cooperate.”

As he opened the door, a look of distress fell over his face.  Alan was not in agony.  He was kneeling on the floor, jamming out to the music and playing an air guitar.  What made matters worst, Alan was singing more terrible than an amateur karaoke.

Flexine laughed, “See, I told you so.”

Dr. Zan’s face started to turn red as he yelled, “Take him to the holding cells upstairs until he decides to cooperate!”

Moments later, Alan was escorted by two thugs to the detention cells and was shoved into one of the cells.  Alan turned and shouted, “Just for that, I’m not recommending this place as a find hotel!”

Dr. Zan’s hired henchmen just grunted and walked away.  Alan sat down on a cot when his back bumped against something hard.  He turned and jumped back off the cot.  It was huge like James and was ninety-five percent metal.  It was a metal golem.  The only thing that resembled human was the right side of its face and head.  “Help me.” It said.

* * * * * * *

James led the others into his study, through the secret passageway, and to a new room, which they have not been to.  James called up a three-dimensional map of the city.  On the map, James indicated their mansion and a dot that was Alan’s location.  “How come Alan has a tracking device?” Penny asked.

Stephanie looked at their house and saw more dots and asked, “And why is there more dots at our exact location?”

James and Beaker looked at each other.  Their expressions looked as if they were caught with their hands in the cookie jar, as Penny demanded, “You put a tracking device on all of us, didn’t you!”

Changing the subject, Beaker said, “That’s not important right now, finding Alan is what’s important.”

“Good save.” James mumbled to Beaker.

“When we get lunk-head back,” Stephanie said, “You’re going to tell us more about these tracking devices we all seem to have.”

* * * * * * *

The cell was not very large, only about seven feet by nine feet.  Alan did not seem to really notice, as he was helping the golem into a sitting position on the cot.  Alan figured that if he were in here, he must be a good guy.  He pulled out some tools he kept in his pocket of his cargo pants and initiated repairs on the golem.  “What exactly are you?” he asked.

The red light that was its left eye flickered on as it replied, “I was once human, and my name is Mike Decker.”

“What happened?” Alan asked.

As Alan continued fixing Mike, he told him about the events, which lead to him being locked up here.  Mike began, “About ten years ago, I was a star quarterback in college.  Zan was a nerd in the science club.”

Alan stopped momentary and snapped, “Hey! Just because we like computers, doesn’t make us nerds!”

Mike turned his head fifteen degrees to the right and said, “Well, Zan was not your typical nerd, he was always building contraptions to cause trouble.  He did something so terrible that I had to rat him out to the Dean.”

“What did he do?” Alan inquired while continued making repairs.

“Some how he made a bomb powerful enough to level the city.  After I informed the Dean, he kicked Zan out of school, and he was taken away by the police.”

Alan got Mike’s upper body functioning as he continued, “Then a year ago, I was forced off the road by a black Sudan.  I was jumped by five goons and brought here where Zan had his thugs beat the crap out of me.”

Alan brought Mike’s lower body operational and plugged into a power outlet to recharge Mike as he continued, “Zan’s goons busted my body up and Zan, with his demented mind, gave me this cybernetic body that didn’t work and with little power, as revenge for his imprisonment.”

Alan placed his tools back into his pocket and said, “All fixed, now we have to just wait until you’re fully re-charged.”

* * * * * * *

The evening sky had changed into twilight, as two objects streaked across the sky.  One was James flying on his own power, and the other was Stephanie’s car.  Stephanie, of course, was driving with Penny calling shotgun.  Beaker sat between the rubber-twins in the back seat to keep them from fighting.

They arrived at the location of where Alan was taken, and landed a short distant away.  The front of Zan’s layer is guarded by two huge robot drones. “How are we going to get by those things.” Penny gripped.

Nonie brightly said, “Maybe there’s a back door.”

“What makes you think there would be a back door, Ninny?” Patricia snapped.

Penny ran to the back of the building and saw only one guard at the back door.  She then ran back and told them there was a back door.  “See!” Nonie gloated.

When they arrived at the back of the building, they began to make their plans.  Nonie had her own idea as she stretched her upper body around the single guard and taunted, “Nay-nay! You big dummy!  Can’t catch me!” then pulled her upper body back.

Penny shouted, “Why’d she do that for!”

As he aimed his gun, Penny rushes up, taps him on the shoulder, when he turned to face Penny, she fisted him sending him to the ground.

Penny then grabbed Nonie by a pointed ear and scolded, “What in the hell were you thinking, young lady!”

As Stephanie tied-up the guard, James moved to the door and forced it open and the six enters the layer.  Inside, they find three corridors.  James looked at the three door and said, “Me and Penny will take the one on the left, the rubber twins will go down the middle one, and Stephanie, you and Beaker will take the one on the right.”

Beaker pulled out some rings from his pocket and said, “These are communicators I’ve been working on, their voice activated.  If you find Alan, call out.”

As each placed their rings on their fingers, Nonie held her ring to her mouth and called, “Calling Patty… Calling Patty… Do you hear me?  Over.”

Patricia gave her twin a kick in her posterior and retorted, “Do you hear this!”

Each group set out on their way, Stephanie and Beaker was walking down the corridor, when a door behind them closes.  Both turned in shock to see that they were cut-off from behind.  They moved ahead about a meter when the one in front of them closed, sealing them in.

“This is just great,” Stephanie sighed, “now we’re stuck here.”

Beaker scratched his head, trying to come up with a plan for getting them out.  Before he could think of something, small doors at the top of the corridor opened and laser guns began to fire at them.

Beaker shouted, “It’s a trap!”

“You think so!” Stephanie snapped, “If Alan thinks he in trouble now, just wait until I get my hands on him!”

As she threw up her hands as to block the laser.  Stephanie’s hands began to glow as she instinctively created a force field to block the lasers.

Stephanie, astonishingly cried, “How did I do that?”

“Well, what ever you’re doing, don’t stop!” Beaker ordered and used his  telekinesis to force the lasers into turning towards each other and destroying themselves.

Stephanie dropped her force field and made her way to the sealed door. She power-up  for a laser blast of her own to cut the locking mechanize to the door.  Afterwards, they continued down their path.  Stephanie and Beaker walk down the corridor pass some of Dr. Zan’s other projects, looking in to see if Alan was in any of them.

“How do you feel?”, Alan asked.

Mike got up from the cot, did a full systems check and said, “I’m at full power, my body is fully functional, and I’m ready to fully kick Zan’s ass.”

Mike walked to the cell door and said, “Only thing keeping me from doing that is this cell door.”

Alan smiled his trademark smirk as he said, “Don’t worry; leave everything to me.”

Alan walked to the door and said “When I get the door open…”

“But, how are you going to…” the golem started to asked as Alan gazed at the door, then blinked his eyes as he  remotes the locking system to open the cell door.

“How did…Oh, never mind.” Mike responded and then he grabbed the guard by his shirt, pulled him into the cell, and beat him up.

Alan stepped out of the cell as the other guard turned and saw him.  He jumped Alan, slamming him into the wall and said, “What are you doing out of your cell?  How did you get out?”

Alan smiled as he said, “I wouldn’t worry about that right now, I’d be more worried about what he’s going to do to you.”

The guard felt a large metallic hand grab him and slammed him against the wall, knocking the guard out cold.  “What kept you?” Alan asked.

“Had to make a rope out of the cot’s sheet...” Mike answered, “…to tied the guard up.” and then he held out his arm, pressing a button on his forearm, began to scan the surrounding area.

When he was finished, he reported, “There are four guards in that room, and more on the first level.”

They set out for the stairs, quietly as they sneak pass the barracks containing the four thugs, and down the stairs making their way to Zan’s lab.  When they reached the bottom, Alan and Mike hid behind some crates.

James and Penny traveled down their corridor.  Penny asked, “Do you really think, sending both Nonie AND Patricia down the same passageway, was a good idea?”

“Probably not,” He answered, “but, do you want to be teamed with either of them.”

The two passed a section when a door behind them closes.  They turned and heard another door close in front of them, trapping them in a section of the corridor.  “Here we were worried about them, and we’re the ones who fall into a trap.” Penny gripped.

“Wait, do you here that?” James asked.

Penny’s eyes widen as she answered, “It sounds like…”, they could hear the sound of something trickling, which turned into a violent flow, “…WATER!  The corridor is filling with water!”

As water began to fill the passageway, the two wadded to the sealed door towards the direction they were traveling.  “How are we going to get out of this?” Penny demanded.

James looked at Penny and asked, “How long can you hold your breath?”

“Not indefinite!” she snapped back.  The water was up to their waists as they got to the door.  James ran his hands around the door, then began to push at it.  After a moment of effort, the door did not budge.  James cried out, “It must be high pressurized, I can’t budge it!”

“So we die here.” Penny moaned.

James smiled and said, “We’re not dead yet.  I have an idea.”  James took a deep breath and went under the water.  He felt the floor, then came up to the almost gone surface.

James grabbed Penny and said, “Hold on tight to something.”

Again, James took a deep breath and went under the water. James began to punched at the floor until he punched a hole in the floor.  He then moved over to Penny and held her tight to a pipe built into the wall to keep her from being pulled down the hole he created to let the water out of the passageway.

When all of the water was gone, James was able to force open the door that held them there.

Nonie and Patricia crept down the middle corridor.  Patricia stretched her arm around Nonie and flicked her on the back of her head with her finger.  She did this for the third time when Nonie turned and snapped, “Quit It!”

“What,” the brunette laughed, “I’m not doing anything.”

As they passed a doorway, the door behind them closes.  Both turned as Nonie griped, “Oh, and I suppose you didn’t do that either!”

“Hey,” she countered, “I didn’t do that.”

“Sure you didn’t.” Nonie muttered.

The twins continued down the hall, when Flexine steps out of her quarters, blocking the rubber twins path.

“Well, what do we have here?  A hero wanna-be, and her sidekick.  How charming.” Flexine sneered.

Patricia clenched her teeth and said, “Who’re calling a sidekick.  I’ll kick your butt up and down this hallway.”

Flexine smiled an intimidating grin and retorted, “Bring it on Princess.”

Patricia morphed her clothes into her Plastrica’s outfit, then stretched her arm towards the pink haired villainess to sock her.  Flexine warped her upper body out of harms way, grabbing Plastrica’s arm, and pulling the dark haired elf towards herself.  “You sure didn’t learn very much from that fight in your garage, did you?”

Flexine grabbed a hand-full of dark hair and slammed Plastrica’s face into the wall.  Flexine laughed, “Hey, maybe if I had a comic book handy, I could use your face as Silly Putty.” Then she dropped Plastrica to the floor and looked at Nonie, and asked, “Your turn hero, what are you going to do?”

Nonie stretched her body out to try to engulf the villainess.  Flexine stretched herself through the crack in the door of her quarters before Nonie could grab her.  She shifted her jeans and t-shirt into her Elasticity costume and checked on Plastrica, then went after Flexine.

Elasticity entered the room and saw Alan tied to a chair.  She ran over to untie him as he said, “Things are not always as they appeared.”

Alan slowly changed into Flexine as she grabbed the dim-witted hero and through her face first against the wall.  “For instances, I’m not you friend Alan.”

Flexine moved towards Elasticity, pulled her off the floor, and dragged her back into the hall, dropping her next to Plastrica.  She laughed, “There, one nice little pile.” She turned to her quarters and said, “Now don’t go away, I have something Dr. Zan built just for you two.”

The rubber-twins were just getting off the floor when the pink haired villainess returned.  She held up a sort-of gun looking device and said, “Rubber-twins, meet Mr. Plastic Bubble gun.”

Plastrica got to her feet first and tried to attack Flexine.  Elasticity saw her twin become encased into a large plastic bubble, when she was hit with the beam from the weapon in Flexine’s hand.  Elasticity stretched her hand around Flexine, and snatched the weapon from her.

Flexine had a worried looked at seeing Elasticity with the bubble gun, then smiled at Elasticity as she goaded, “Go head, try it.  I dare you to use that weapon.”

“Here goes.” She said as the elastic hero pulled the trigger.  To Elasticity’s surprise, she was encased into a large bubble, and not Flexine.

Flexine walked over the red headed hero, picking the bubble gun off the floor where it fell and laughed, “You held the gun the wrong way.”

From inside her bubble, Plastrica yelled, “Of all the stupid things you ever done, this is the STUPIDEST!”

“This was way, too easy.” Flexine laughed.

Plastrica hollered, “Do you really think these bubbles will hold us?”

“Okay…” she grinned, “try to escape.”

The rubber-twins tried to stretched, forced, shaped, but could not get themselves out.  Flexine began to get an pure evil smile as she came up with a fiendish plan.  She went out into the lab and came back with two henchmen.  She had them roll the rubber-twins into the laboratory.  Flexine then got a crane and hoist the twins ten feet into the air.

She got out of the crane and said, “Here’s the deal, I’m going to lower you both into this huge laminator, and post you both on the wall as a couple of trophies.”

The two henchmen wheeled the biggest laminator the twins had ever seen.  They turned it on and Flexine jumped back into the cab of the crane and started to slowly lower them into the laminator.

Plastrica and Elasticity gazed in horror as they watched their bubbles collapsed onto it selves.  Their feet went into the machine first as they felt the heat from the laminator’s rollers moving up their legs.  Flexine exited the crane as the heat rollers moved up their waists and stomachs.  Flexine stretched her upper body up to face the rubber heroes and goaded, “I applauded you on a feeble attempt to rescue your friend.”  She gazed down at the hot rollers, which was now squeezing their chests flat, “Don’t you just get that warm feeling when the villains win?”

Flexine watched, as Plastrica and Elasticity’s head went down through the rollers.  At the bottom of the machine, they emerged flattened into a couple of plastic sheets.  Flexine frowned, “Darn, they didn’t smile.  Oh well, life goes on.”

Alan and Mike hid behind some crates in the lab.  They watched as the rubber twins are laminated flat.  Flexine turned to Dr. Zan in the control booth and shouted, “Honey!  I laminated the kids!”

Zan called over the P.A. system, “Good work Flexine, keep them there while I work on my master plan.”

“Yeah, whatever.” Flexine sarcastically sighed.

Stephanie and Beaker walked to the exit and into the main lab and saw the rubber twins laminated flat.

Flexine and two guards turned to grab the rubber twins to hang them on the wall, when an energy beam shot past between them and the twins.  Flexine turned towards the point of origin to see Stephanie and Beaker.  “That’s as far as you’re going!” Stephanie snarled.

Flexine smiled, “Oh look, the little hero brought some friends.”

From behind the crates, Mike scanned the area and located Zan in the control booth.  His red eye flared as he said, “Come on Alan, we’re going to sneak over to that ladder, and to the control booth where Dr. Zan is.”

James and Penny made their way to lab.  They entered to see Stephanie and Beaker battling the guards and Flexine, and join in on the fight.

Mike looked at Alan and ordered, “Come on, now’s our chance.” Then he made his way to the ladder. Alan looked at the pressed rubber girls and followed Mike.

The four guards in the barracks come out, see what all the commotion was all about, and saw the two guards knocked out.  Two of them ran down to join in on the fight, the other two, check on the two fallen guards by the cellblock.

One of the guards, who was with Flexine, tried to charge towards Beaker.  He found himself being pulled into the air as Beaker used his telekinesis to lift him into the air so he can’t fight.  Then just for giggles, Beaker started to spin his guard around and then he threw him against the large main doors to the outside.

Penny ran to the guard, who was fighting Stephanie, and hit him.  He in turned, took a swing at her, but Penny effortlessly dodged the punch.   She ran around him using a punch-and-move style of fighting that anyone would expect a speeder would use.

One of the guards who came down to fight, moved onto Stephanie.  When he was ten feet away, Stephanie created a blast of light and blinded him momentary, then she pretended he was her brother and took her frustrations out by beating the living shit him out.

James took to the air and grabbed the other guard who came down the stairs, and threw him against the laboratory’s main doors.  Penny distracted Flexine as James swooped down and grabbed Flexine and threw her against the wall.  When Stephanie was finished beating up on the guard, she proceeded to laser the twins free as four more guards ran down the stairs.

In the control booth, Dr. Zan was not pleased to see his hired thugs, whom he paid good money for, get defeated by these hero upstarts.  He reached for a lever as he said, “Let’s see how they like Frick and Frack!” and activates the two robot sentries to assist his men in battle.

Beaker thought how easy it would be to use telepathy to grab one of the guards and make him attack another guard.  He smiled and concentrated on a big one.  Beaker took control of him and made him fist another guard, soon both thugs were fighting each other.  They fought until they knocked themselves out.

One of the guards saw Mike and Alan climbing the ladder to the control room, dashed to the ladder, and began to climb up.  One of the guards had a machine gun, pointed at Stephanie.  Before he could fire on her, She created another force field around herself, as she did in the corridor.

The robot sentries fired an energy beam at James, who took a direct hit, sending him crashing against the back wall.  Penny ran to her husband to see if he was alright.  James got up and he and Penny glared at the mechanical monsters.  “Distracted them.” He told his wife.

Penny questioned, “What are you going to do?”

James snarled, “You’ll see.”

The woman Alan dubbed as Hyper-woman scampered around the sentries while avoiding their energy blasts.  James took to the air once again, and grabbed one of the sentries and swung it like a baseball bat into the other as  James shouted, “Homerun!”

The impact destroyed both of the robot sentries.

Flexine was starting to get up when she saw the rubber twins standing before her.  They both had an angry look as they said, “Hey, remember us!”

They each grabbed a leg on Flexine and began to stretch her out.  Flexine shaped her hands into shovels and smashed them into their faces.  As they staggered back, Flexine got up and transformed into a rhinoceros and mowed down the rubber twins, flattening them out.  As they inflated themselves, Flexine transformed into a huge python and wrapped herself around the twins and started to squeeze them.  The twins wiggled out of Flexine’s grasp and each fisted her on both sides of her head.  Flexine transformed back into her normal appearance as the three rubber girls looked at each other as Plastrica said, “Let’s try out this magical ability we discovered at Melvin’s house.”

Nonie’s face brighten as she remembered that squeaked, “Oh yeah, I forgot about that!”

The rubber-twins said together, “We place Flexine into a plastic block.”

Flexine stood there with her arms crossed over her chest, tapping her foot impatiently, not in a plastic block, gripped, “Are you through with your nonsense yet?”

“What went wrong?” Elasticity whined, “It worked before.”

Plastrica glared at her sister and retorted, “It must’ve been something you goofed up.” With that, the three rubber girls continued their fight.

On the catwalk, Mike and Alan got to the control room.  “It’s locked, how are we going to get in without the combination?” Mike asked.

Alan smiled as he said, “No problem-o’, that’s why you have me around.”

Alan pulled a cable out of a pocket of his cargo pants and attached it into the keypad terminal, then he attached the other end into the data port on the back of his neck.  “I’ll have it unlocked before you can say…” they could hear the door unlocked, “…Jack Robinson.”

Mike smiled and entered the control room.  Before Alan could entered, he was grabbed by the guard who followed them up the ladder.  He was the same thug who slammed him against the wall in the detention block. He slammed Alan against the wall and said, “Where’s your help now.  You’re going to have to fight your own battle now.”

Below the fight continued as the guard, who was shooting at Stephanie, gun had jammed.  Stephanie took this opportunity to drop her force field and blasted him, sending the guard flying across the lab and out through the open main doors.

Flexine decided to shift this fight into overdrive by growing to a height of twenty-five feet.  Flexine smiled as she stomped on the twins and squashed them flat for the second time.  She then shrank down to her normal height and sprouted bat-like wings out of her back and flew up to the control room.

On the catwalk, Alan pushed the guard over the rail and onto a pile of crates below.  He then, ran to the other side of the catwalk where Flexine grabbed him and bounced him against the wall.

Dr. Zan grew angrier as he shouted at his men, “You fool!  As your leader, I command you…”

Zan was cut short when he is tapped on the shoulder by a Metal-Hard finger.  As he turned to see who it was, Mike grabs Dr. Zan and began to bounced him against every wall in the control room.

Flexine Grabbed Alan and lifted him into the air.  The twins peel themselves up Elasticity saw Flexine had Alan, shouted, “She’s taking Alan!”

Stephanie responded, “Not on my watch!” and she blasted Flexine, causing her to drop Alan.  He landed into a huge vat of glowing green goo sitting at the bottom of the catwalk.  Alan climbed out, spitting out some foul tasting gunk, and was all covered with the slimy contents of the vat.  Beaker ran over to the vat and took a sample for study.

Mike finished by throwing Dr. Zan through the control room’s window.  He flew and crashed into a machine in the middle of his lab.  There was an explosion and the laboratory began to crumble.  Mike jumped down from the control booth, which the others were preparing to battle him.  Alan ran up to his friends and explained, “Wait, he is one of the good guys.”

They all noticed that the place was falling apart, “We’ve got to get out of here, now” Penny suggested.

As Dr. Zan’s layer began to fall apart, Flexine, still with the wings sprouted from her back, flew down and grabbed Zan and flew them out of the main doors.  As they were exiting, Dr. Zan shouted, “I’ll get you guys for this!” As he shook his fist at the heroes.

The heroes knew they could not leave the henchmen here to die, so they gather up the henchmen, using telekinesis; super speed, and super strength. The rubber-twins shaped themselves into a couple of platforms and the others piled the guards on them in order to carrying them to safety before the layer crumbles to the ground.

Outside, Mike was hiding as the police took the henchmen into custody.  Afterwards, All including Mike, started back to James’s house.  They arrived at Stephanie’s car; Alan was about to get in when Stephanie said, “Oh no, you don’t, you’re not getting into my car with all of your filth!”

“But, How am I suppose to get home?” Alan demanded.

Minutes later, Stephanie’s car swooshed though the sky, followed by James holding Alan by his shirt as he sulked, “This is no way to treat a super genius.”

When they got home, Beaker took the sample he got from the vat in Dr. Zan’s lab over to his lab to see what Alan got himself into now.  Alan was going to get a shower, but first he wanted to check on his skycar.  He was shocked to learned that the rubber-twins had mutilated it into a lump of metal.

Mike and James sat in his living room. James was getting as much information on Flexine that Mike could remember.  He was concerned about the fact that she was responsible for shutting down Terisen, impersonation himself, and how she even knew who he was in the first place.  In addition, the rubber-twins are somehow woven into this whole mess.
